T.J. Watt is one of the best defensive players in the game.
Terry McLaurin has established himself as one of the best wideouts in the NFL.
They are both searching for a new deal.
Watt will be 31 years old in October, and McLaurin will turn 30 in September.
They are both critical to their team.
The Steelers do not win games when Watt is out. McLaurin was one of the best WRs last season and was a huge reason for Jayden Daniels’ rookie success.
As they are both searching for a new deal, T.J. Watt and Terry McLaurin are both expected to skip mandatory minicamp.
T.J. Watt & Terry McLaurin Expected To Skip Mandatory Minicamp
T.J. Watt is expected to miss mandatory minicamp as he looks for a new deal. Watt will get a new deal done with the Steelers. It is a matter of time. The deal may take a bit to finalize, but before the Steelers take the field in Week 1, Watt will have a new contract.
McLaurin’s situation is a bit different. He is frustrated with the lack of contract talks. Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reports talks have been minimal, and McLaurin has made it clear to the team that he’s frustrated by the lack of progress on a long-term extension.
McLaurin attended voluntary work before unexpectedly leaving to work independently. With McLaurin expected to skip mandatory minicamp, he risks being fined by the team for his absence. He is entering the final year of his deal. McLaurin is set to make $15.5 million in 2025. His annual average of $23.2 million ranks 16th, behind teammate Deebo Samuel’s $23.85 million annual average.
McLaurin had a career-best 13 touchdowns in his first season playing with Jayden Daniels. He caught 82 es for 1,096 yards, his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season.
McLaurin has not had the pleasure of playing with a good quarterback throughout his career until Jayden Daniels took over.
The Commanders would be wise to pay their best wideout and make sure Daniels has his favorite target for 2025.
