Longest Penalty Streaks at a New Club: Kane Stands Unchallenged as Palmer’s Run Ends 24151u

On Sunday, 9 March, Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen became the first to stop Cole Palmer from the spot, ending the Chelsea star’s Premier League record for the longest consecutive penalty streak at 12 goals.
In December, Palmer scored two fine penalties as Chelsea claimed a 4-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, suring Manchester City great Yaya Toure (11 goals) and setting the record for the most consecutive penalties scored in the English top flight. Palmer, who has now gone seven games without scoring in the Premier League, also had a chance to become the most clinical English penalty taker at a new club since 2000.
With his penalty streak shattered, Bayern Munich talisman Harry Kane now sits unchallenged at the top, cementing his place as one of the best spot-kick takers in European football history.

Kicking off the list is ex-Argentine centre-forward Lisandro Lopez, who set a penalty streak of 15 goals after ing Lyon from FC Porto in July 2009.
Lopez’s last successful spot-kick came in a 2-0 win over Ligue 1 opponents Stade Rennais in May 2013. He maintained a 100% conversion rate until his departure to Al-Gharafa in August 2013.
Lopez, who retired in January 2025, took 42 penalties in his career, converting 36 and missing six.

Torsten Frings had two spells at Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, with the first one lasting between 1997 and 2002 and the second from 2005 to 2011. Frings did not take even a single penalty kick during his first spell but became the team’s go-to taker in the second.
He scored 15 penalties on the bounce before missing out in the 6-0 defeat to Stuttgart on 7 November 2010. He took two more penalties before leaving the German side, missing both.
Frings — who retired in February 2013 — took 28 penalties between club and country, scoring 22 and missing six.

In eighth place, we have Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal. The 27-year-old, who came through the youth system at La Real, scored 16 consecutive penalties in 15 matches across competitions before he failed in the goalless draw with Manchester United on 25 February 2021.
Coincidentally, the 2024 European Championship winner scored his last penalty goal against Manchester United on 6 March 2025, helping the Spanish side draw 1-1 with the Red Devils.
Oyarzabal has taken 41 penalty kicks in his career so far, putting 36 away and failing on five occasions.

One of the finest centre-forwards of the 21st century, Real Madrid icon Karim Benzema put away his first 16 penalties after switching to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the summer of 2009. The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner missed his first Real Madrid penalty on 23 January 2022, in a 2-2 draw with Elche in La Liga.
Before jetting off to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, the ex- international took 37 penalties for Los Blancos, scoring 32 and missing five.
Benzema has taken 54 penalties so far, scoring 42 and failing 12 times.

Ex-Brazil international Grafite may not be the most recognizable player on this list, but until Harry Kane, he held the record for the longest penalty streak at a new club in the Bundesliga. Grafite, who moved to Wolfsburg from Le Mans UC 72 in August 2007 scored 16 consecutive penalties before missing against Bayern Munich’s Hans Jorg Butt on February 6, 2010.
Grafite scored his last successful penalty for Wolfsburg on 18 February 2010. His goal allowed the Germans to draw 2-2 with Spanish side Villarreal in the UEFA Europa League.
Grafite, who retired in 2018, converted 39 penalties in his career, missing only four.

Fabinho emerged as one of the best holding midfielders in the business during his time at Liverpool. However, before his switch to Anfield, he was quite a wizard from the penalty spot, scoring 17 consecutive penalties in 16 games following his switch to Monaco.
Fabinho missed his only spot-kick for Monaco in the UEFA Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on 12 April 2017, with Roman Burki saving it. The former Brazil international took his last penalty for Monaco on 16 February 2018. He successfully put it away to help his team to a 4-0 win over Dijon, taking his penalty tally to 21 goals for the French side.
Across clubs, Fabinho has taken 24 penalties, scoring 22 and missing two.

Dybala last scored from the spot in February, helping his team to a narrow 1-0 win over Serie A opponents Venezia.
The Argentina international has been on penalty duty 47 times in his career, scoring 42 and missing five.

Former Inter Milan frontman Romelu Lukaku is in second place, scoring 19 penalties for the Nerazzuri across two spells. The Belgian sharpshooter scored 15 goals in as many games during his first stint and added four more when he spent a season on loan from Chelsea.
Lukaku’s last penalty for Inter came in the UEFA Champions League on 11 April 2023. His goal helped the Italians seal a 2-0 victory over Benfica.

Inter Milan man Hakan Calhanoglu created one of the longest penalty streaks in football, putting away 19 spot-kicks without missing. His streak came to an end in November after Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret denied him from the spot in the two teams’ 1-1 draw. The Turkiye international’s last successful penalty came on 25 February 2025 as the Nerazzuri ed a 2-0 victory over Lazio in Serie A.
Calhanoglu, who is one of the best set-piece takers in the world, has scored 46 penalties in his career. So far, he has only missed six spot kicks.

Bayern Munich No. 9 Harry Kane holds the longest penalty streak, having scored a whopping 21 goals from the spot since moving from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023. Kane has taken just 17 games to attain his chart-topping tally, with his finest display from the penalty spot coming against Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League. The English superstar scored three consecutive penalties as Bayern inflicted a whopping 9-2 defeat upon the underdogs.
Kane’s last penalty came in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Bayern Leverkusen. His goal helped the Bavarians claim a 3-0 victory over Leverkusen.
The 32-year-old, who is the ultimate spot-kick master on EAFC 25, has taken 100 penalties for club and country throughout his career. He has scored 89 of them, missing just 11.
