Premier League Highlights 23q50
Bournemouth 1-2 Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town secured their first Premier League in 2025 after beating Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium, as Liam Delap was the hero once again.
It was the Cherries who started strongest, as Andoni Iraola’s side held the majority of possession and had a number of half-chances.
But it was Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich that broke the deadlock after 34 minutes, as Julio Enciso danced his way through the Bournemouth midfield and provided the perfect for Nathan Broadhead to tuck away.
The hosts failed to muster any significant chances for the remainder of the half and the Tractor Boys boasted a slender head after 45 minutes.
Andoni Iraola’s half-time team talk failed to make an impact on his side, as Ipswich doubled their lead in the 60th minute through Liam Delap.
Bournemouth did finally put their stamp on the game and managed to pull a goal back eight minutes later through Evanilson.
It was attack v defence for the rest of the second-half but Ipswich were resolute and Bournemouth suffered their fourth consecutive defeat at home.
Manchester City 2-0 Leicester City
Leicester City failed to score for a sixth consecutive match in the Premier League, as the Foxes were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City thanks to goals from Jack Grealish and Omar Marmoush.
Manchester City wasted no time in asserting their dominance on the match and were ahead after just two minutes – thanks to a rare Jack Grealish goal.
The Englishman latched on to a sublime from Savinho and placed the ball into the bottom-right corner to score his first Premier League goal of the season.
City doubled their lead around 25 minutes later after a serious of dangerous attacks and it was Omar Marmoush who reacted quickest to a goalkeeping error as the Egyptian smashed the ball into an empty net.
Southampton 1-1 Crystal Palace
Southampton were just minutes away from ending any chance of finishing this season with the lowest points in Premier League history but a late Crystal Palace equaliser means this poor statistic is still alive.
The Eagles made a superb start and came inches away from taking the lead after just two minutes of the opening-half, as Jean Philippe-Mateta’s strike cannoned off the crossbar.
However, it was Southampton who would break the deadlock and take the lead as Paul Onuachu unleashed a bullet header into the bottom corner on the 20th minute mark.
Palace continued to have chances after Southampton’s opener but Aaron Ramsdale pulled off a number of strong saves to keep his side ahead going into the break.
The Saints managed to stay ahead for the majority of the second half and were holding Crystal Palace at bay with some strong defending.
However, the dream of a rare Premier League victory was crushed in the 92nd minute, as Matheus Franca headed the ball past Ramsdale to earn a point for the Eagles at St Mary’s.
