Earlier this week, Italian outlet Corriere della Sera reported Charles Leclerc had grown unhappy at Ferrari. Citing a close member of his entourage as a source, the report claimed the Monegasque would not waste his prime in an uncompetitive car.
The outlet claimed Mercedes were keeping a close eye on the situation, and could axe George Russell for Leclerc.
Ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, the media asked Leclerc to comment on the raging speculation about his future.
“I am very surprised. I mean, I have no idea where it is coming from,” Leclerc responded (via RacingNews365).
“So I’d rather just ignore it, and I’ve never said anything like this in the last few races. If anything, I keep saying how much I love the team and want to bring Ferrari back to the top, so I was surprised.”

The eight-time Grand Prix winner added:
“We have a vision that all three of us, Fred, Lewis, and I, in order to try and get back to winning. And we’ve been working to put that together. This is our plan, and we shall stick to it.
“We are already putting ourselves under a lot of pressure, and then there are some rumours, which of course is not something which you want to hear. But the pressure is normal when you are working for Ferrari.”
He concluded, saying:
“McLaren is stronger at the moment, and it is up to us to react. And we need to ignore what is said around the times.”
Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari Contract Details Revealed 6f5l6u
Charles Leclerc moved to Ferrari from Alfa Romeo in 2019, becoming the second-youngest driver to race for the Maranello team. He quickly proved his mettle and emerged as one of the strongest drivers on the grid.
However, despite showing plenty of promise, he has not managed to win enough races. So far, Leclerc has 46 podiums and 8 wins under his belt. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who is only in his third year in Formula One, has already claimed seven Grand Prix wins. The Australian driver has outshone his teammate Lando Norris, with the Brit itting things are not going according to plan.
The day Charles Leclerc leaves Ferrari because he lost confidence in them will be the day Ferrari loses more than just a talented driver.

Leclerc signed a contract extension with Ferrari in 2024, extending his stay until 2029. But as per Italian media, the mega deal is dependent on Ferrari’s performance. If the Prancing Horse cannot give Leclerc a race-winning car, he will be able to facilitate a premature exit.
Last season, Ferrari finished second in the Constructors’ Championship, just 14 points behind McLaren. This year, they are already trailing them by a whopping 197 points. If Ferrari do not fix their act and bounce back with aplomb in the wildly unpredictable 2026 season, the 27-year-old could indeed head for the exit door.
