Liverpool paid a handsome £85.4 million fee to sign Darwin Nunez from Portuguese side Benfica in the summer of 2022. Over the last three years, the Uruguayan striker has only impressed in bits and pieces, failing to attain consistency.

Since his switch from Portugal, Nunez has played 95 Premier League matches for Liverpool across three seasons. He has scored 25 goals, provided 13 assists, and missed a whopping 55 big chances. Nunez has also hit the woodwork 14 times.

Premier League winners Liverpool reportedly want to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, and a clinical striker is at the top of their wishlist. According to The Guardian, Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are interested in prizing Nunez away. Luis Diaz has also been linked with an exit, but Liverpool are more open to Nunez’s departure.

Sky Sports has credited Liverpool with an interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian sharpshooter spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 37 times in 41 matches. He will return to Napoli this summer but is likely to leave permanently.

Osimhen would reportedly welcome a move to the Premier League, but Liverpool or any other interested suitors would have to shell out a sizable fee. The Reds could have to pay close to £55 million to Napoli to secure Osimhen’s services. The player is also demanding a massive £400,000-a-week deal, which will make him one of the highest-earning players in the Premier League.

In his GIVEMESPORT column, Fabrizio Romano gave his take on the rumours circulating about Victor Osimhen. As per the journalist, there is nothing concrete to report on the matter.

Romano wrote:

“I’m not aware of concrete s so far. But Liverpool remain in the market for one more offensive player, especially if Darwin leaves – and I expect him to go.”

The 26-year-old striker is one of the finest in Europe, but Liverpool may not destabilise their hierarchy to sign him.
