The immediate future of Giannis Antetokounmpo is said to be one of the biggest stories of the NBA offseason. The rumor mill has been swirling for months now, and many believe that the two-time league MVP will be playing for a team other than the Milwaukee Bucks come the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
Windhorst: Giannis Hasn’t Asked The Bucks To Trade Him
But according to one of the game’s most trusted insiders, there may be more smoke than actual fire when it comes to the Greek Freak being dealt this summer.

On Tuesday morning’s episode of Get Up on ESPN, NBA insider Brian Windhorst spoke about the current happenings surrounding Giannis and the potential trade rumors. But instead of reporting about increased discussions or possible destinations, Windhorst quickly shut down the narrative:
“Right now, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market. There is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions. He has not asked for it, the Bucks are not looking to trade him.”
The revelation shuts down the Giannis rumor mill, at least for now. Despite the report, though, there is still plenty of time for things to change on that front. We are still a little more than two weeks out from the 2025 NBA Draft, a point in which big trades are most likely to occur. Teams like the San Antonio Spurs have been rumored to have interest, with their 2nd overall pick being a key piece in possible trade discussions.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is in the prime of his career, and is coming off one of his best seasons ever. His 30.4 points per game was second to only league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and his 6.5 assists per game tied a career high.
But despite his dominance, the Bucks had trouble making any noise in the Eastern Conference. Unfortunate injuries to key players eventually caught up with Milwaukee, who were bounced in the first round by the Indiana Pacers.
Given teammate Damian Lillard’s situation, it appeared likely that Antetokounmpo would look for a way out. Things haven’t improved much since the Bucks won the title back in the summer of 2021, and they have been bounced Round 1 in each of the past three seasons.
