Tyrese Haliburton’s skills trainer Drew Hanlen fired back at Brandon Jennings after getting dissed by the former NBA point guard on Tuesday.
Earlier, Jennings tried to clown Hanlen because of an article by The Athletic. It revealed that Hanlen creates group chats for his clients where he’ll use trash talk as a form of motivation.
Jennings is of the opinion that doing that is both “weird and stupid.” He also feels that Hanlen is too “buddy buddy” when it comes to doing stuff like this. His tweet comes across as though the two have personal beef, and there’s no doubting that intensified with this exchange.
He even referenced trainer Rob McLanaghan as someone who would never do this sort of thing.
Affectionately known as “Rob Mac,” McLanaghan has worked with the likes of Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose.
The players who are Hanlen’s clients are quoted as saying they enjoy the back-and-forth and that it does in fact push them to be better. Hanlen currently has two clients in the NBA Finals — Haliburton and Chet Holmgren. His client list includes Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. His newest addition is Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Jennings played five seasons in the NBA across five teams. He averaged 14.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.7 assists over 555 games.
How Did Haliburton’s Trainer Respond To Jennings?
Hanlen hit Jennings where it hurts. He delivered a knockout punch by saying that, “Maybe if your trainer would talked sh*t to you, you wouldn’t have shot 37% from the field and 23% from 3 in the playoffs while never winning sh*t.”
I’m getting two of my clients (Haliburton & Holmgren) ready for the finals so don’t have time to waste on your dumbass takes
Side note: Maybe if your trainer would talked shit to you, you wouldn’t have shot 37% from the field & 23% from 3 in the playoffs while never winning shit https://t.co/SOQD43xF4u

NBA Twitter/X had a field day with that response, reveling in how badly Jennings was destroyed by that comment. Jennings tried to go back at Hanlen again, but it was clear the battle was already won. If anything, it just made Jennings look worse.
Jennings went on to claim that Hanlen was taking full credit for the performances of Haliburton this postseason. He also hinted at bad experiences for someone by saying, “Every time you do this something goes bad with your clients.”
He also then tried to make it personal by saying Hanlen has “short man syndrome.”
So you the reason Haliburton been playing like this? Or is it cause the league “players” said he was overrated!!! Let me guess you put Chet and Hali in group text for the finals? Lol iiighttttt
Every time you do this something goes bad with ur clients. Stop wasting ur time!!!… https://t.co/JFB1lvrPAp— Brandon Jennings (@Tuff__Crowd) June 4, 2025
Based on how the entire exchange played out, there only appears to be on person exhibiting “short man syndrome.”
