The NFL season. But amid swirling trade rumors and reports of his unhappiness, cornerback Jalen Ramsey will not be present when the team gets together on Monday.

NFL Rumors: Ramsey, Dolphins Have No Resolution In Sight

It was a quick falling out for the two sides. It was just over two years ago when the Dolphins sent a third round pick to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for the three-time First Team All-Pro cornerback, as the team added another talented piece to a top-heavy roster.

But the relationship between the two sides has gone south since the conclusion of the 2024 campaign, and Ramsey has expressed publicly that he hopes to be traded at some point this NFL offseason. When asked about the situation during a recent press conference, Miami’s head coach Mike McDaniel said that he “isn’t keeping tabs” on the daily trade rumors that surround the team.

“Relationship are hard,” said defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, “and he’s chosen to move on.”

According to a report from Ian Rapoport on Sunday morning, Ramsey doesn’t plan on being around the team any time soon as the front office hashes out the trade situation. The 30-year-old cornerback is expected to skip out on the mandatory mini-camp that the Dolphins will be holding this coming week.

Now that June 1st has ed, Miami has a bit more incentive to trade Ramsey. The dead cap number that he carries has now been lowered to $6.7 million, meaning that the team would save about $10 million in cap space for the campaign if they deal him away.

Jalen Ramsey played in a total of 27 games for the Dolphins during his two-year stay with the team. He had five total interceptions to go along with 82 combined tackles, and made the Pro Bowl in 2023 despite participating in just 10 contests. The 2025 campaign will be Ramsey’s 10th year of NFL service.
