The New England Patriots entered the 2025 NFL offseason with the most money to spend of any team. They went out and made some major splashes in free agency, focusing heavily on their defense, which should be much improved heading into the campaign.
Patriots Still Have The Most Cap Space Of Any NFL Team
And as we head into the thick of the summer months, Mike Vrabel and company still have the most cap space of any team in the league.

The Patriots didn’t have any other direction to head other than up. New England finished with a 4-13 record for the second straight season in 2024, which was the lowest win total for the team since the 1992 NFL season. They ended up with a top-4 draft pick, and already had a potential quarterback of the future in Drake Maye who they drafted in the top three just a year prior.
They began free agency with a splash. One of the best available players on the open market was Milton Williams, a defensive tackle who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Patriots inked the 26-year-old to a four-year deal worth over $100 million, and made four subsequent gs that featured contracts valued over $30 million.
Patriots Have The Most Money, Bills Have The Least
Despite the big spending, the Patriots remain at the top of the league when it comes to available money for the summer and beyond. Based on numbers provided by Spotrac, New England still has $60 million in available cap space, which is still $12 million more than any other NFL team. The money difference between the second and fifth ranked teams is just $7 million.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Buffalo Bills have very little financial wiggle room. The Patriots’ division rival has just over $2 million in cap space available, the lowest total of any team in the league. The New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons are the only other teams that have fewer than $10 million in space.
