Aston Villa fans fumed as Marcus Rashford was spotted at Saturday’s Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn showdown after missing the FA Cup semi-final with injury.

Rashford was the target of relentless abuse from Villans on social media when videos emerged of his presence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch the big fight.

The 27-year-old is known to be a keen boxing fan and was even spotted linking up with Ben Whittaker at his rematch against Liam Cameron earlier this month.

When DAZN posted the clip of Rashford entering the stadium, some Villa fans – fresh off heartbreak in a 3-0 cup semi-final loss to Crystal Palace – decided to voice their disapproval.

One quoted the post saying: “How can Rashford be this tone deaf, how is he not able to still read the room?

“Nothing wrong with enjoying a night out but context matters. Your team just lost a semi-final game you couldn’t play in because you are ‘injured’ & the same night you are off to a fight.

“This isn’t a one-off either.”

By the sounds of it, it seems Rashford could have played his final game in a Villa shirt.

Unai Emery itted the team are expecting him to be out for ‘some weeks’ and with less than a month to go until the end of the campaign, he could sit out entirely.

The forward has enjoyed a steady revival to his career since moving to Villa Park on loan from Manchester United, recording four goals and six assists in 17 appearances.

It seems unlikely Rashford will return to Villa on a permanent deal with the player reported to favour a move abroad to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The chances of him rebuilding his relationship with United boss Ruben Amorim are slim and the Red Devils will be happy to cash in after a fabulous run of form.
