‘That’s Desperate’ – Chris Sutton Makes Brutal Scoreline Prediction for Man City vs Leicester 403r1j

Former Celtic star Chris Sutton has predicted that Manchester City will “blow Leicester [City] away” in their Premier League Matchday 30 meeting.
He also backed Pep Guardiola’s side to comfortably qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League despite losing Erling Haaland to a serious ankle injury.
Man City, who made history last season by winning the Premier League title for the fourth-consecutive season, have failed to live up to expectations in 2024-25. They have amassed 48 points from 29 games and find themselves in fifth place in the league rankings. League leaders Liverpool have a 22-point lead.
Man City have also crashed out of the UEFA Champions League (defeat to Real Madrid) and lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup Round of 16.

Winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the Champions League are their key objectives, and Sutton is confident they will do just fine in the latter department. Sutton believes Man City will begin their run-in with a commanding victory over Leicester, as they do not need to be anywhere near their best to secure maximum points.

Analyzing the Gameweek 30 meeting between Manchester City and Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium, Sutton wrote in his BBC column:
“It is exactly the fixture Manchester City would want after their FA Cup win at Bournemouth (2-1), when Pep Guardiola was speaking about his players showing heart and soul, and the desire and ion that they need.
“The way he was talking shows how much winning the FA Cup means to him, but does it mean they are back on track? I am not sure, and I don’t think this game will tell us much either because they should blow Leicester away even if they are nowhere near their best.”
He added:
“Leicester have not scored a league goal since the end of January, and I don’t see that changing at Etihad Stadium. They are at the stage where their fans cheer a corner, let alone a shot at goal – that’s desperate, and that’s where Leicester are at.
“From what Pep was saying, he knows how important this game is for their run-in, as Manchester City look to secure Champions League football next season. I don’t think there is any chance they will slip up.”
Sutton’s prediction: Man City 5-0 Leicester
Leicester City have been all over the place this season. Amassing just 17 points from 29 games, the Foxes are 19th in the league standings. They have lost their last six games in the English top flight.
