The Newcastle talisman was substituted after the 68th minute during Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Brentford in the Premier League and fans have started to show obvious concern.

In his typical fashion, Isak scored the opening goal against the Bees and this was his 20th goal of the season in the league – the third highest behind Mohamed Salah (27) and Erling Haaland (21).

However, his game was cut short through injury and Eddie Howe has revealed that the Swedish international was struggling with a groin issue for large parts of the match.

Howe said: “I think on another day he would have scored more. But I don’t think he was feeling 100%, which is why we withdrew him.

“We hope it’s nothing serious. But he’s such a talent and he’s such a big player for us.

“He just wasn’t feeling 100% in his groin, I don’t think. And was just a little bit unsure in his movements. So that’s why we withdrew him.”

The Magpies have a variety of injuries to deal with at this current moment in time, as Kieran Trippier and Joelinton were also withdrawn from the match.

At this current moment in time an exact diagnosis of Isak’s injury is yet to be revealed, as the club are set to assess the severity of the situation in the coming days.

The Magpies will be hoping for a swift return as they are back in action on Monday 7th April and face a trip to relegation-threatened Leicester.

Eddie Howe did provide a slight update on the seriousness of Isak, Trippier and Joelinton’s injury and shined a slight light of hope on the situation.

Howe said: “We had players in different physical moments and we looked to have picked up a few minor injuries but hopefully nothing to keep anyone out of the next game.”
