Heinz-Harald Frentzen struggled at Williams when they were the best car on the grid in 1997.

Two years later at Jordan and he was much more at home and would win both his and Jordan’s second race at the 1999 French Grand Prix.

The race appeared to be between Mika Hakkinen in the dominant McLaren and Rubens Barrichello who was now at Stewart Grand Prix – with Frenten shadowing them in third.

Some smart work by Eddie Jordan’s team though meant Frentzen didn’t need to come in for a second pit-stop, and the German put in a faultless drive to take the chequered flag first.

3. Jordan’s Final Grand Prix Victory 2t11h

Eddie Jordan’s team had already started to decline by the time of the 2003 season. But at the Brazilian Grand Prix, they had one of their moments in F1.

Giancarlo Fisichella was driving the second-worst car on the grid in 2003 but benefitted from an excellent strategy gamble and a massive crash for Fernando Alonso.

On the day, the race was handed to Kimi Raikkonen who had just re-ed Fisichella for the lead.

However, ahead of the next race in San Marino, the Jordan driver inherited the victory when the result was taken back to the end of the previous lap.

That led to an awkward handing over of the trophy between Raikkonen and Fisichella.

2. Shock Title Challenge 6k3o5d

Jordan driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen mounted a shock drivers’ title challenge in the 1999 season.

Mika Hakkinen lost a huge amount of points as he retired from five races which he could have won. Michael Schumacher’s season was over by the half-way stage after breaking his leg in a crash at Silverstone.

That resulted in Schumacher’s Ferrari teammate and ex-Jordan driver Eddie Irvine, and Frentzen mounting shock title challenges.

Frentzen took race victories in and Italy and took pole position for the European Grand Prix.

The German looked certain to win until a mechanical failure cost him the victory. If he had won that race he would have been just one point behind Mika Hakkinen with just two races to go.

This still makes one of Eddie Jordan’s best F1 moments as Frentzen and Jordan finished third in the drivers and constructors’ championships.

1. Emotional First Victory And 1-2 At 1998 Belgian Grand Prix 2d437

Jordan had a slow start to the 1998 season but improved as the season went on with Damon Hill qualifying third for the Belgian Grand Prix.

It turned out to be one of the most chaotic wet races of all time with a huge crash with almost half the field bringing out the red flag.

Michael Schumacher looked destined to win before he crashed into the back of David Coulthard after he was unable to see the Scotsman as he tried to lap him due to the spray.

Hill, the 1996 world champion, led home Ralf Schumacher to give Eddie Jordan and his team their first F1 victory.

It was Jordan’s best moment in F1 and a hugely popular victory – with the Irishman looking emotional as his cars crossed the line.
