Here’s our Everton Vs Peterborough preview, prediction, team news and confirmed lineups ahead of Thursday’s FA Cup Third Round tie at Goodison Park.

Everton Vs Peterborough Preview 6d3uy

Everton parted company with boss Sean Dyche on Thursday afternoon. The surprising timing of his dismissal means club legends Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman will take charge at Goodison Park.

Goals have been especially hard to come by this season. Iliman Ndiaye’s wonderful strike at Manchester City is their only goal from open play in ten matches.

In that period, Wolves defender Craig Dawson is Everton’s top scorer, thanks to a brace of own goals in the Toffees’ sole victory.

They are now poised precariously above the Premier League’s bottom three, just a point above the drop zone.

And while they do have a game in hand on those around them, an away trip to Anfield to face league leaders and rivals Liverpool is unlikely to provide any points.

But attention now turns to the FA Cup third round. Peterborough are also struggling, sitting 19th in League One.

The Posh have lost their last 14 third-round ties with top-flight opponents, and their best-ever showing in the competition was a run to the quarter-finals back in 1964/65.

There is minimal history between these two sides. The only previous meeting between Everton and Peterborough ended in a 2-1 victory for the Toffees in a 2006 League Cup tie.

But while an FA Cup upset is unlikely, Peterborough do have recent Wembley experience.

Darren Ferguson’s side are the current EFL Trophy holders, having lifted last season’s title.

They will be hoping for another cup triumph at Goodison Park, but know the odds are not in their favour.

Everton: Virginia, Patterson, O’Brien, Keane, Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Gueye, Mangala, Ndiaye, Armstrong, Beto

Peterborough: Bilokapic, Collins, Conn-Clarke, Nevett, Jones, Hayes, Kyprianou, Katongo, Dornelly, O’Brien-Brady, Fernandez

Everton Vs Peterborough Prediction 304b2q

While Everton have been dreadful recently, they face a lower-league opponent equally devoid of confidence.

Peterborough may be hopeful of an upset, but we expect Sean Dyche’s side to pick up a much-needed and morale-boosting victory against the Posh.

Prediction: Everton 2-0 Peterborough
