Everton have begun negotiations for Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene – according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Toffees have struggled again this season, and sit just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.

Manager Sean Dyche is under increasing pressure, with some fans calling for him to go.

Everton, therefore, are in the market for some January reinforcements to bolster their ranks and help stave off the threat of relegation.

The Merseyside club have played in the top flight continuously since 1954, and have spent just four seasons outside of the top level of English football.

But in recent seasons they have flirted ever closer to a first relegation in over 70 years.

It’s therefore no surprise to see them lining up some incoming gs to improve their survival chances.

And according to one of football’s most in-the-know reporters, they have set their sights on Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Italian transfer guru exclusively revealed that Everton have started talks with Jaden Philogene.

Romano stated that Everton are keen on a permanent deal for the 22-year-old Villa academy graduate.

Primarily a left winger, Philogene can also play on the right, and would add pace and dribbling ability to Everton’s front line.

Born in England, Philogene is of Dominican decent. He has represented the Three Lions at youth level, most recently for the under-21s.

He made his Villa debut in May 2021, coming off the bench in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham.

That was followed by loan spells at Stoke City and Cardiff, before he ed Hull City on a permanent deal in September 2023.

Philogene was nominated for the Puskas award for his goal against Rotherham United in February 2024.

He nutmegged a defender before scoring with a rabona kick.

His exploits for Hull eanred him a move back to Villa Park last summer, where he signed for an £18m fee.

This season, he has played 15 times for Villa in all competitions, but has been limited to substitute appearances mostly.

He is therefore believed to be open to a move to another Premier League team.

Everton will therefore be hopeful of securing the exciting youngster’s services before the window is over.
