Colombian singer J Balvin, real name Jose Balvin, will headline the FIFA Club World Cup final half-time show at the MetLife Stadium.

The inaugural edition of the 32-team Club World Cup will include a novel half-time show. It will be the first time CWC or any other major football — soccer in the United States — tournament has a half-time spectacle.

This Super Bowl-inspired extravaganza will also feature American rapper/singer Doja Cat and Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems.

Football traditionally has refrained from hosting half-time shows. In those brief 15 minutes, both fans and players catch their breath and get refreshments, preparing for the second half.

Things are changing this year, with the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup leading the way. Instead of putting on a show at the start of the game, the CWC will have a half-time event, featuring three top vocalists.

This set list has been curated by Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin. The Brit has long been serving as the curator for the Global Citizen Festival, which had its first show in 2012. With Global Citizen organising the half-time show for FIFA, Martin got the opportunity to set the line-up.

Martin has picked J Balvin, Doja Cat, and Tems to entertain fans during the half-time break at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on July 13.

Since the line-up was announced, J Balvin and Tems have shared their excitement.

Balvin, known for songs like “Mi Gente” and “Ay Vamos”, reflected on his journey to the CWC final.

From Medellin to MetLife – I’m honoured to headline the first-ever halftime show of the FIFA Club World Cup final,” wrote Balvin on Instagram.

It’s a historic moment, for me, for Latin culture and for every kid who dreams big.”

Temilade Openiyi, more famously known as Tems, meanwhile, vowed to use the opportunity to bring people together.

We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment,” she wrote on social media.

To celebrate football, feel the unity that music brings, and improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund,” she continued. “I can’t wait – see you at the Club World Cup final.

Organisers of the event, Global Citizen, will use the Club World Cup half-time show to raise awareness in our fight against extreme poverty. They are aiming to generate £74 million to give children access to education and football facilities.

The winning team at the 2025 Club World Cup will be in for a massive payday. Across the tournament, FIFA will distribute $1 billion (£775 million) in prize money between 32 participating teams.
