The FPL Banger boys are back with their Fantasy Premier League tips for Gameweek 29, outlining their top picks and a best captain selection.

Welcome to a new series for the 2024/25 season, provided by Siva & Sam, the twisted minds behind the FPL Banger Podcast.

Our bold shout to captain Mo Salah instead of a Chelsea midfielder who hadn’t scored or assisted in his last eight games paid off, so let’s see if we can continue to deliver such top-level insight.

FPL Banger Gameweek 29 Tips 3wy6s

BEST CAPTAIN 4x3t3d

Chris Wood (£7.3m) – Fixture: Ipswich (A) 4v3h5j

13 years ago, Chris Wood was sold by West Brom to Leicester for £1.25m. Steve Clarke, the then West Brom coach told him, “sorry Chris, you’re too big, you’re too slow, you’re too cumbersome.” If only someone had told Steve that Chris Wood would one day be the highest scoring forward in all of FPL after 28 gameweeks.

Big FPL s and pundits keep predicting Forest to falter. And yet, Nuno’s side keeps proving them wrong. Forest defeating Liverpool and Man City in the same season is quite possibly the biggest double upset since Chris Jericho won the Undisputed Title by beating Stone Cold and the Rock in the same night.

Choosing a captain this week is hard, but given that Ipswich are the only side in England’s top four tiers without a league win so far in 2025, I’m quite pleased that I’ve got Wood.

TOP PICKS 4e4v6p

Matz Sels (£5.1m) and Murillo (£4.7m) – Fixture: Ipswich (A) 5zp6d

Rest assured, I resisted the temptation to select a full slate of Forest players this week, but there was no way to put anyone other than Sels and Murillo in this section. Forest have the most clean sheets in the league (12), and seeing as they just kept a clean sheet against Man City and Arsenal in their last 2 games, Forest really should not be conceding to a side with the third least goals in the league.

Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) – Fixture: Leicester (A) j6l4

LLLLLLLWLLLLL

That’s not a typo – that’s Leicester’s record over the last 13 games. While I wouldn’t wish for anyone to lose their job in this economy, my best guess as to why Ruud van Nistelrooy remains unemployed is that the Leicester owners have just stopped watching their games. Fair enough, they’ve only scored once in the last eight, I’d turn the TV off too.

Meanwhile despite Man United’s troubles, Bruno Fernandes is in good form, having scored a midweek hattrick which means that Bruno now has the most goals and assists combined (24G 17A) of any player in Europa League history.

If you’re a Man United fan, that’s a statistic that feels less impressive and more depressing the more you think about it, but I digress.

Yoane Wissa (£6.4m) – Fixture: Bournemouth (A) 6b223c

People like to say that Brentford are good at home and bad away. And yet the Bees have won four out of their last five away, while being winless in their last seven at home.

My theory is that Brentford had a bunch of favourable home games and tough away games at the start of the season, and right now we’re seeing them play those favourable return fixtures away from home.

Bournemouth, whom Brentford defeated 3-2 back in GW11, are a team who can be got at. One clean sheet in eight and with Kepa in goal, I’m backing Wissa to return.
