FPL Banger runs through his tips for Week 32, explaining why you should triple captain Alexander Isak.

Welcome to a new series for the 2024/25 season, provided by Siva & Sam, the twisted minds behind the FPL Banger Podcast.

English football celebrated a special moment under the lights this week with an upset for the ages, as Jacob Murphy scored 16 points at Leicester.

Let’s see if we can repeat that.

FPL Banger Week 32 Tips 39196x

Best (Triple) Captain 1x6l1b

Alexander Isak (£9.5m) – Manchester United (H), Crystal Palace (H) 2i1q2m

“I think he’s 100% fit. I wouldn’t have taken any risk with him tonight if he wasn’t. There was an opportunity to rest him with the game in a good position for us. I don’t think we’ll have to manage him from this point onwards.”

That was Eddie Howe speaking about Isak after he came off with 20 minutes to go against Leicester. Long-term FPL managers will know that the first rule of FPL is that whenever Eddie Howe comments on the fitness of a player, to believe the opposite.

But this time I’m prepared to give Howe the benefit of the doubt – Isak was definitely not needed on the pitch with Newcastle 3-0 up against a Leicester side that haven’t scored at home in 3 months. The opposition in GW32 will be a step up, and I expect Isak to play close to 180 minutes across the 2 games.

And spoiler alert, I will be using the triple captain chip on Isak. He’s nailed, on penalties, with 2 home games, including a game against “one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United’s history”, in the words of Nemanja Matic. The Palace game is just a bonus, and I will take whatever I can get.

Top Picks 4p5ca

P.S.: My picks this week are based on the assumption that most FPL managers already own 3 players from Newcastle (Isak, Murphy and a defender) and Crystal Palace (Mateta, Eze/Sarr and Munoz). So I’ll be focusing on players with just the 1 fixture in this week’s article.

No team in English top-flight history has ever gone nine matches in a row without a goal. No team in Football League history has ever lost nine in a row without scoring.

That changes after this week. Expect Leicester to keep breaking records.

Marco Asensio (£6.2m) – Southampton (A) 683l42

Selecting an Aston Villa attacker that will actually start in between 2 of their biggest games in a generation against PSG is tricky, but I’m confident Marco Asensio makes the starting XI this week. The Spaniard only played 31 minutes midweek and should be good to go, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Morgan Rogers probably due a rest.

Southampton are already relegated, without a manager, and basically have nothing to play for this season. Villa need wins to chase that top 5 spot and Champions League football next season, and Asensio looks primed to add to his tally of 8 goals in his last 9 appearances.

Omar Marmoush (£7.6m) – Crystal Palace (H) 6s3948

Man City turned in a truly forgettable display last week in one of the most boring Manchester derbies ever, while on the same weekend Palace and Brighton turned it up to 11 in the legendary M23 derby (no, I don’t know why people call it that either), with Palace picking up 2 red cards.

As such, Palace head to the Etihad with Marc Guehi suspended and injury doubts for Maxence Lacroix and Chris Richards. Palace under Glasner typically play with 3 centre-backs, which might be hard to do if all 3 of their starting centre-backs are unavailable. Time for Marmoush to take advantage.
