‘It Wouldn’t Actually Surprise Me’ – Gary Neville Makes Massive Liverpool Claim While Discussing Champions League Clash with PSG 6c1b55

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has said he would not be surprised if Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) knocked Liverpool out of the UEFA Champions League this week.
Premier League frontrunners Liverpool claimed a 1-0 victory over PSG at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash on 5 March. The Parisians outplayed the visitors, but could not take their chances. Right at the death, substitute Harvey Elliott struck for Liverpool, putting them in a comfortable position ahead of Tuesday’s (11 March) return leg.
Liverpool sit 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and fans are hopeful of seeing them push for the Champions League as well. Neville, however, is not confident that Liverpool has what it takes to snatch the ‘Old Big Ears’.

Discussing Liverpool’s date with PSG, the Premier League legend said on the Gary Neville Podcast (via TBR Football):
“It’ll be a hell of a game at Anfield this week, it’ll be a brilliant game, I mean, the atmosphere will be sensational. Liverpool will be right up for it.”
He then downplayed the Reds’ Champions League hopes, saying their journey could come to an end this week itself.
“And then obviously, the Champions League is a different story. That’s a different story. I’m not quite sure I see Liverpool winning the Champions League, you can never write them off in that competition but I can’t quite see it.
“It wouldn’t actually surprise me if they went out this week. PSG, I think it’s a 50-50 game, Liverpool could easily win but so could PSG, PSG are a good side.”
Les Parisiens ed 27 shots at the Parc des Princes last week, with 10 of those landing on target. Alisson, however, was at the top of his game and stopped everything that came his way. The hosts also had 70% possession, considerably higher xG (1.78 vs 0.27), and took 14 corners.
At Anfield, Arne Slot’s side will look to take control of proceedings and are expected to enjoy much more possession. However, considering the talent PSG have at their disposal, it is unlikely to be a cakewalk for the Merseysiders.
