The latest James Trafford transfer news has revealed how much Burnley will demand for their star goalkeeper.

On Friday, Trafford kept his 24th EFL Championship clean sheet of the season as the Clarets thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 4-0.

More notably, Trafford has only picked the ball out of the back of the net on nine occasions in England’s second tier. The Man City graduate has gone 12 games since he last conceded against Watford on December 21.

In of minutes, it accumulates to 1,090 since he was beaten by Hornets forward Kwadwo Baah. Naturally, such astonishing numbers have seen interest in Trafford soar.

The former Premier League star looks certain to be playing top-flight football in 2025/26. Whether that is with Scott Parker’s men or another suitor remains to be seen.

Parker will be desperate to keep hold of the England U21 shot-stopper. Especially as the Lancashire look like they could potentially regain their place in the top-flight next year.

However, that decision could be out of his hands if the big boys come calling. In anticipation, Burnley have named their price for the 22-year-old.

According to talkSPORT, James Trafford will cost at least £30 million in the summer transfer window. That figure is double what Burnley paid for the goalkeeper in 2022.

Newcastle have immediately been alerted after the Magpies tested the Clarets resolve last year without success. Now, the Toon Army are expected to try their luck once again.

Trafford can already be considered a fans favourite at St James’ Park after his heroics against Sunderland last month. The Cumbrian-born stopper saved TWO penalties in a 0-0 draw against the Black Cats.

Eddie Howe’s side are expected to be more vocal in the transfer window this summer. PSR restraints had hindered their activity last year but balancing the books will allow Trafford to move to NE1.

Star players Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have been linked with mega-money moves away from the club. Naturally, that would help in the pursuit of Trafford.

However, Howe’s side would very much like to keep Isak and Gordon so selling fringe players would also help. The former Bournemouth boss isn’t thought to be unhappy with current stoppers Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka.

Interestingly, the former was also purchased from the Clarets and has gone on to star for the Geordie Boys since. Bad injuries in recent years has turned Howe’s attentions elsewhere.

On Sunday, the Magpies are back in action as they take on Nottingham Forest at home. The best football betting sites in the UK price the Toon Army as the 20/23 favourites.
