Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly issued a warning to Rodrygo, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Ferland Mendy, asking them to improve their performance to stay at the club.

Real Madrid have not been at their flawless best in the 2024-25 campaign. They are sitting in provisional pole position in La Liga but their performances have not been up to the mark. They are also in a tough spot in the UEFA Champions League, toiling in 20th place after picking up nine points from six games (3 W, 3 L).

Many of their players have come under scrutiny since the start of the season, including newcomer Kylian Mbappe. While the Frenchman has fixed his act and become an important part of the team, some of his teammates are still scrambling for form.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, Real Madrid president Perez and general manager Jose Angel Sanchez have been keeping a close eye on Rodrygo, Tchouameni, and Mendy. Although coach Carlo Ancelotti has full faith in his players, there is consensus that the trio must pull their weight, as their disappointing showings have been hurting the team.

Rodrygo, who is one of the most highly rated forwards in the world, has not looked clinical in front of the goal this season. Since the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, the Brazilian has scored just five goals and provided four assists in 21 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions.

Tchouameni, meanwhile, has lacked pace and looked out of ideas in the middle of the park. His versatility has been a massive positive, though, as it has allowed Ancelotti to deal with Madrid’s defensive crisis.

Lastly, there is Mendy, who has looked below par on either end of the pitch. His defending has been wobbly at best whereas his deliveries into the box have hardly troubled defenders. With Mendy hesitating to overlap, the opposing defenders have been regularly trying to smother Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid are unlikely to sell any of the three players in January. However, if they do not fix their act, Perez and Co. could opt for an overhaul in the summer.
