The 2025 US Open golf tournament will be the 125th time the event has been played – with the first being held in 1895 at Newport, Rhode Island and won by English golfer Horace Rawlins.

Masters Winner Rory McIlroy Hoping To Scoop Some Of The US Open Prize Money 2025 a126t

Rory McIlroy Eyes Second US Open Title

This year’s Masters winner Rory McIlroy will be another name hotly tipped to get his hands on some of the US Open golf prize money 2025.

The Northern Irish big-hitter has already won the US Open too – when winning the event in 2011 when it was held at Congressional in Maryland.

However, despite landing the career Grand Slam earlier this season with his Masters victory – McIlroy, who is the world number two, will need to bounce back from only finishing tied 47th in the US PGA and then missing the cut at the Canadian Open last week.
