Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn’s highly-anticipated April bout just got even tastier after the former sparked a brawl at the pair’s face-off in Manchester.

The two fighters have been embroiled in conflict for years since they were due to go head-to-head in the ring in October 2022, before the fight was cancelled when Benn failed a series of drug tests.

In November, Benn was cleared to fight after UK Anti-Doping announced it would not appeal the decision by the NADP (National Anti-Doping ) to lift his ban.

Eubank Jr and Benn are sons of historic rivals Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn, who fought twice in the 1990s as Eubank won the first bout and the second was drawn.

On Tuesday, Eubank Jr and Benn began their press tour in Manchester ahead of a scheduled scrap on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Following a lively press conference, the pair locked horns in a tense face-off before Eubank Jr struck Benn with an egg and ignited a brawl at Manchester Central Auditorium.

As per the best boxing betting sites in the UK, Eubank Jr is priced as the 4/6 favourite to win the fight with Benn a 6/5 underdog.

Turki Alalshikh has suggested the winner of the April clash will be rewarded with a shot at Canelo Alvarez, who currently holds the WBC, WBA and WBO super-middleweight titles.

Eubank Jr has two career losses against Liam Smith and George Groves on his record while Benn is still yet to taste defeat, winning all 23 bouts and 14 by knockout.

Benn is moving up two divisions to fight Eubank Jr and there is a rematch clause in both contracts, so after the initial match we can expect plenty more to come.

Both fighters were active on X (formerly Twitter) following the brawl, where Eubank Jr claimed that ‘egg contamination’ was the reason for Benn’s failed drugs tests which sparked the idea.

Benn told Eubank Jr that was the only shot he’d land and vowed to finish the fight in two rounds when they meet.
