According to the video, the wrestler – billed from the controversial “Gulf of America” – was blackballed by jealous rivals and disappeared from the industry before re-emerging in WWE.
Eagle-eyed viewers quickly noticed telltale signs of AI generation in the footage, such as distorted human hands with extra fingers.
This has led to some criticism on social media, with fans voicing concerns about WWE’s increasing reliance on artificial intelligence for content creation.
Meanwhile, others have argued that the use of AI is part of the joke from Gable, who is playing into his false character.

The backlash wasn’t limited to the AI aspect of the video.
Many fans have also condemned WWE’s use of the term “Gulf of America” in El Grande Americano’s backstory.
The name stems from a recent executive order by WWE Hall of Famer and US President Donald Trump, instructing federal agencies to adopt the term instead of “Gulf of Mexico”.
The renaming has been met with controversy, with mapping services like Google Maps adjusting their labels depending on the ’s location.
Ernesto Ocampo of Super Luchas called the reference an “insult to both Mexican wrestling and Mexico,” criticising WWE’s apparent attempt to politicise the character’s origins.

On Raw, Americano competed against Dragon Lee in a solid TV match, securing a victory by unmasking his opponent and applying an ankle lock – one of Gable’s signature moves.

While some fans enjoyed the spectacle, others expressed frustration over WWE’s creative choices, particularly the use of AI-generated elements in the character’s introduction.
William Beltran told wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer that while American audiences may have found the segment entertaining, many Latin American fans have criticised both the AI usage and the political implications of the storyline.
